Mrs. Dunn: Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year. I am looking forward to working with your 4th grade student as we engage in a curriculum that is rigorous yet attainable! I bring 24 years of teaching experience to your child having graduated from DeLand High School. I then obtained my Bachelor's and Masters in Special Education at University of Florida after attending Stetson University for two years. Volusia County has noted my hard work with various honors and leadership opportunities that have empowered me to be an even better teacher. I also currently also have my National Board Certification in Special Education. It is my goal to ensure that your child becomes empowered this year by guiding and supporting them through access of their allowable accommodations. Goal setting and work ethic are at the heart of their success. Let's work together to make it their best year at Freedom Elementary!
Mrs. Hoover: This will be my twenty-fifth year working in Volusia County Schools. I have taught first through fifth grades, reading intervention for first through fifth grades, served as an academic coach for teachers, and worked for the District Science Department as a teacher on assignment. I have a Master Degree in Educational Leadership and National Board Certification. Aside from my experience, I love teaching children. Education has been my only career aspiration. My philosophy is, “Whatever It Takes,” to help each child grow and succeed academically and socially.
Mrs. Westmoreland: This is my twenty-first year teaching for Volusia County Schools. I have taught kindergarten, second grade, and special education for multiple grade levels. I graduated from University of Texas at Austin and have obtained National Board Certification in special education. I love helping students overcome obstacles in education and forming strong relationships that last and support lifelong learning.
